SHOULD you need to live to 100, stop smoking, maintain down your cholesterol, and drink no more than four cups of coffee a day.

Those are the three leading tips from scientific researchers who analysed data including 10 that have celebrated their 100th birthday, on 855 Swedish men born in 1913.

It also helps to own a home by the age of 50 -- suggesting a high standard of living -- exhibit a superb degree of middle-age to possess a mommy who lived a long time and fitness.

Dr Lars Wilhelmsen, who is involved in the study for the previous 50 years, stated the study's "unique design has enabled us to recognize the variables that influence success following the age of 50.

"Our suggestion for individuals who aspire to centenarianism would be to refrain from smoking, maintain healthy cholesterol levels and confine themselves to four cups of coffee a day," he stated.

The investigation found that 27 per cent of the analysis participants endured to age 13 and 80 per cent to 90.

Of all the deaths occurring following the time of 80, 42 percent were attributed to other causes to heart problems, 20 percent to disease, 8 per cent to stroke, ten percent to cancer, six % to pneumonia, and 16 per cent.

"Our findings that there's a correlation with maternal but not paternal durability are entirely consistent with previous studies," Dr Wilhelmsen added. "The genetic factor seems to be a powerful one -- but however we discovered that this genetic factor was feebler than the additional variables."

2 of the centenarians decreased from the research as a result of dementia plus one for personal reasons.

Of the remaining seven, 2 resided in aided facilities at home. N one smoked, and all displayed spatial cognition and good temporal which demands an expression of time and area. Moreover, despite generally using frames that are walking, every 100-yearold was slender and had a good posture.

"Typically we conducted the studies at hospitals, but we visited the seven centenarians at home," said Dr Wilhelmsen.

"All of them were medically healthy, satisfied with their conditions and happy to be living in the place where they were."
